The John Lennon® Real Love Project is a free songwriting and music workshop for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Using John Lennon songs as inspiration, workshop partcipants learn to play guitar, compose their own songs, and sing their truth.
A program of Theatre Within, the grassroots non-profit behind the Annual John Lennon Tribute, the workshop launched in 2014 at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx and found a home the following year at Gilda's Club, NYC.
John Lennon Real Love Project workshops are now offered to children who have lost a parent to cancer, adult cancer survivors, and those undergoing treatment. In 2018, Theatre Within provided 40 free workshops, with more planned for the current year.
Beginning in the fall of 2019, contingent on funding, Theatre Within will offer the John Lennon Real Love Project to public schools in the New York metropolitan area at no cost.
