The John Lennon® Real Love Project is a visionary songwriting and music workshop for those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Using John Lennon songs as inspiration, workshop participants learn to play guitar, compose their own songs, and sing their truth.
A program of Theatre Within, the grassroots non-profit behind the Annual John Lennon Tribute, the workshop launched in 2014 at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx and found a home the following year at Gilda's Club, NYC.
John Lennon Real Love Project workshops are now offered to children who have lost a parent to cancer, children with a parent in treatment, adult cancer survivors, and adults undergoing treatment. In 2019, Theatre Within is providing over 40 workshops — at no cost to participants — for the New York-metro cancer community.
Staring in the spring of 2020, in commemoration of John Lennon’s 80th birthday, Theatre Within will offer the John Lennon Real Love Project to public schools and libraries in the New York tri-state area.
